In the past 5 years, Triathlon as a sport has experienced a 300% growth
On the Beijing Olympic Games, the Triathlon was one of the top 10 sports watched on TV.
The Contender Triathlon is the Puerto Rico biggest triathlon event.
• The fourth edition of the triathlon spanning the largest distance and best planned in the Island, will occur on December 11, 2011 at the Vacia Talega Beach on the Loiza Municipality.
• The Contender Triathlon is supported by both local and state government entities. It consists on a 1.2 miles swim, followed by a 56 miles cycling route, finishing off the 8+ hours event with a 13.1 run.
• Each stage is planned and developed by highly experienced sport personnel.
• The Contender Triathlon is a family oriented event.
Triathletes have stated that the event is in a World Class Level.
